咖啡豆大腸
閱讀X光片是個學問，但有些狀況十分明顯，就算非醫護人員也可發現事有蹺蹊。「咖啡豆徵象」（coffee bean sign）就是一例，在X光片上出現一個不合比例地大的大腸，就像放大了的咖啡豆或腰豆一樣。這徵狀源於大腸在兩處地方像扭氣球般打結起來，令中間部分充氣漲大，在X光片上形成特別的形狀。
乙狀結腸扭轉（Sigmoid volvulus）患者多數為老人家，因爲扭轉會導致大腸阻塞（intestinal obstruction），所以病人會出現嘔吐、腹脹、便秘等徵狀。像氣球般大的大腸頂著腹部，相必一定很辛苦呢。
不過，結腸扭轉並非大腸阻塞的最常見成因，位於腸臟的腫瘤才是。雖然近年來透過大便隱血作大腸癌篩查愈來愈普及，但仍有患者到出現如大腸阻塞、貧血等徵狀而求醫才知道自己罹患癌症，或會因此而錯失及早治療的機會。政府最近降低了大腸癌篩查的合資格年齡，大家一定要（叫家人）參與啊！
